Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives by Gretchen Rubin

3.0

I love the 4 Tendencies Framework that Gretchen Rubin has developed and think that it and the habit strategies she goes through in this book can be incredibly useful. For me, it was a fun read and I identify enough with Gretchen's Type A Upholder personality even though I'm a Type A Questioner that I found it interesting to read about her personal anecdotes. That being said, I did find the book incredibly frustrating as the author devotes most of her time talking about why and how these habit strategies worked for her, someone who has very little trouble adopting habits, and very little time running through how people with the other 3 tendencies can really adopt and adapt these strategies. She spends paragraphs on herself and then throws a sentence or two at the end for the other tendencies. You really have to do all the grunt work and read between the lines in order for much of this to be helpful. And her personality can be, well, abrasive and harsh at times.
