This is my second Emily Henry book and I loved it just as much as The Great Big Beautiful Life. I loved her writing style and how she develops her characters. Somehow I always end up relating to one of them. This was a cute Rom Com feel love story where you are rooting for the friends to become lovers but neither of them are willing to take the leap. Their conflict in Croatia was kind of silly with a BIG miss communication between drunken friends who caught feelings. If they had just talked things through then there wouldn’t have been a 2 year no contact and a million what ifs. My initial thought was that he fell first, but I think they both equally started liking each other from the beginning. Poppy even said that she hated introducing anyone to her family but Alex has met them and she wasn’t even embarrassed about it afterwards. The way she lets him in and no one else shows that she definitely had feelings and wouldn’t admit to it. He definitely had his guard up for many reasons, but she is the only one that seems to break through his walls. I loved the book and cannot wait for the movie to be released in January 2026. I can’t wait to see Tom Blythe play Alex Nilsen and Emily Badder play Poppy Wright.
