The Death Cure by James Dashner
5.0

Two days. TWO DAYS. (And that includes a full-time job.) That's all it took for me to FLY through the 3rd book of this series. And it was AMAZING.

I've gotta be honest, first of all: the first two books were a bit slow for me, with no answers, etc...but the ever-impending sense of doom, destruction, and gosh-darnnit the END OF HUMANITY had me continue on until I read this book and became a complete puddle - only a hint of the person I used to be.

This book doesn't leave you with a good-time feeling at the end. The author (in true post-apocalyptic style) kills off a bunch of people - one favorite character of mine in particular, which led to a good sob in my work parking lot - thanks audiobook. In fact, it leaves you feeling quite empty with perhaps a brief wink of hope for the human race. And that's why you should read it! Because the events of this book could happen tomorrow, and the test of ourselves, as humans, as friends, as loved ones, is the true maze. Let's all be Runners!

After all, if my best friend asked, I too would pull the trigger.
