Kinship: Belonging in a World of Relations, Vol. 1 - Planet by John Hausdoerffer, Gavin Van Horn, Robin Wall Kimmerer

okay so rating an anthology is really hard! there were some incredibly beautiful essays in here and ones that I couldn’t stand. I have had enough of white guy philosophizing! no more Anthropocene-ing for y’all

but! the poems were all lovely and felt like a nice fresh breath when I ran into a piece I disliked.
I loved loved “Ku’u Āina Aloha, My Beloved Land”, and the piece on moon mining 🌙
this volume is the first of five and the broadest in scope (planet). I liked being in touch with ideas of deep time again, thinking about the Earth and how long life has been living. but I’m also looking forward to zooming in a bit more with the next volume.
