Wow, I think I actually liked this one more than the first! You could still sense the influences from other series and sagas, but there were enough differences and ideas unique to the story to set it apart. I was unaware that there was to be a third installment in this series, and am so glad there is! There remain details to wrap-up and resolutions still to arise. Some of the story elements are formulaic and/or tropes, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story much. I did appreciate the one significant twist, and am curious to see how everything ends up for our characters. The writing seemed more polished in this sequel, with fewer repetitive phrases (deepened the kiss) than in the first book in my opinion. I am excited for book 3! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
