The Book of Unknown Americans
by Cristina HenrĂquez
50 States Reading Challenge: Delaware
When I think of Delaware, I never thought of immigrants. Although this book is a novel and not based on true events, I found it helpful to better understand the plight of immigrants. There were several sections of the book that felt scary, uncomfortable, and uncertain...all feelings I would guess immigrants also experience.
It is worth noting that there are some potentially triggering elements in the book: sexual assault, racial profiling, and death/grief.
