I liked the idea of this book more than the execution. I loved the idea of the prince going on a reality tv show to find a future queen. And I loved the idea that he would instead fall in love with a quiet lady in waiting instead. And I did really enjoy Henry and Sarah’s banter and relationship. I liked that they cohabitated during this whole experience and that he was so devoted to her despite other women throwing themselves at him.

I did feel like it was pretty unrealistic, (even within the concept of a prince having a reality show to find his queen). Sarah just seemed like a caricature of a character with her constant allusions to books and immediate blossoming once Henry started giving her attention. And the women contestants actually doing the show were not mentioned often enough for my liking. I would’ve enjoyed hearing more about their personalities and see Henry’s friendship with Laura and Penelope grow.

It was also wild to me that the author continued the story after the tv show wrapped. Everything was basically sorted out: the prince apologized, he told his grandma he was going to marry Sarah, and they were going to change laws to make it happen. And THEN they both decide to go on life-endangering two-year commitments with the military and aid organizations?? And somehow they stayed in love through it all?? And THEN he proposed? It just felt like an odd diversion when the story was basically wrapped up.
