I agree with the other reviews which state that it isn't necessary to read The Firm first although it doesn't reference back to that story.
I really liked the slow lead up to the kidnapping happening especially with Mitch being forced to going back to Tennessee for another death row inmate case but he came to late. I also enjoyed the setup of where everyone was convinced Libya was relatively safe but had a security detail as well.
The description of the kidnappers action was so detailed it was easy to tell how violent they were and weren't afraid to publicize it at all. At the end, I was definitely nervous they wouldn't take the 85 million for the release of Giovanni Sadroni. I liked all the moving points of finding different means of contact to meet the ransom request. I liked how the kidnappers knew enough to force Mitch back to the Cayman Islands where there were already unpleasant memories.
