Belle by Lesley Pearse

2.0

I thought that the idea for the storyline was intriguing, however, the execution was quite poor. I found that there was a lot of repetition in the book, which made it a lot longer than it needed to be.

I also found that the main character, Belle, was badly written. I just felt that for such a young girl, who experienced such terrible things, she bounced back awfully quickly, which I found a bit unrealistic.

For example, it felt like 5 minutes after being sold into prostitution, she just goes, "I want to be the best and highest paid girl here!". That doesn't seem like an ordinary reaction to me. The character should have been a lot more damaged for me to sympathize with her, and take her a bit more seriously.

I won't be buying the sequel.
