I first read Priory over 2 years ago and I loved the story. I felt no intimidation at seeing the size of the novel as I knew from experience that a story worthy of being read can be told and not lose my interest. This was the case for Priory and this was the case for A Day of Fallen Night.
Once again, this was a story majestically woven through multiple POVs that I couldn’t stop thinking about. I was excited to read a little bit everyday that I could.
I absolutely loved Priory, and while I found nothing wrong with it, I cannot help but notice that A Day of Fallen Night was even better. Everything flowed seamlessly and the characters felt more fleshed out and engaging.
A story about connection and motherhood. This theme woven throughout the different stories that are intertwined deeper than we expect.
And I love love love how much queerness is in this book and how it is not scorned.
Here are a few quotes:
It was two hearts meeting at a cross way, and deciding to go on together.
She was born to be a shadow, and all shadows had to do was walk behind.
The silence was a living thing, a thing that ached.
