Hawking by Jim Ottaviani

3.0

I enjoyed this book, but I don't think the "graphic" part of "graphic biography" added much. The art was, in my opinion, not special--and even sort of bad now and then. The hands, especially. I know hands are hard, but come on.

The writing was informative, though confusing at times as a non-physicist. It also seemed to skip time semi-randomly, especially in the latter third of the book. It was dense, but I definitely know more about Hawking now. However, unfortunately, somehow not as much as I would have liked.

I feel very conflicted about this book. While I enjoyed it enough, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who didn't already have a standing interest in Hawking. It certainly won't make him seem exciting otherwise.
