Friends and Strangers
by J. Courtney Sullivan
Maybe 3.5 but closer to 3.
I was into the story but it was a slow burn and I kept waiting for more... more to happen, more to change, just more.... The two women were not perfect and sometimes made maddening decisions.
I felt like it didn't really go anywhere. It was one of those books that is more character development than plot - it was about the women and the places they were in life. How huge something seems and then later, sometimes even months, it's just gone. How different choices are made based on different parts of your life and where you are in the continuum. The judgement of other people without having any idea where they are in that scope. It did make me think, hence the extra .5.
I struggled with the ending - I need closure and didn't really feel like that happened.
