This story is quintuple POV, well written, and a dark, fantasy, reverse harem, series-continuing romance that ends on a cliffhanger and must be read after Storm of Shadows. I enjoyed the deepening of the relationship that Briony, the female lead character, developed with her male leads, highly esteemed students, Dray, Beaufort, and Thorne, plus one of her teachers, Fox. I enjoyed the interactions between the male leads and the negotiations they undertook because they understood they all wanted to be with Briony. I enjoyed the nuances of the relationship Briony is developing with each male. I enjoyed the steamy intimate moments. I sympathised with Thorne’s concerns and fears, and am looking forward to more positive outcomes for him next book. I enjoyed Fox’s determination to have his claim accepted. I enjoyed Beaufort’s grudging willingness to acknowledge Briony’s right to free will, and Dray’s playful but protective mien. I enjoyed Briony’s acceptance of nuance and the widening of her focus to more than her initial concerns.
