A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles

4.0

This was a very quick read. I decided to read this finally because of the upcoming tv adaptation (which I probably won’t watch.)

The book comes highly recommended, but I was a little underwhelmed. He’s there for 30 years, and there’s zero turnover in the staff? The only people who seem to grow or change are the two children.

The writing is very good, and some of the commentary on Soviet life is good, but meh?

I typically read genre fiction and classic literature so reading modern literary fiction seems like something’s missing. I mean, Amor Towles is good, but have you read Anthony Trollope?!?
