mysterious tense

If I sit and focus really hard, and try and hold all the settings and timelines of this series so far in my head, I guess I sort of understand what's going on. Maybe.

Its mysterious on purpose, and really frustrating in that way because I want the privilege of the reader to see the complete story from a bird's eye view, and I just don't get that. The perspectives are only partially connected, the timelines mostly unclear, and no one character alone has a real idea of the full situation (except maybe Jackie Severance and I have no idea where she got to), so its up to the reader to assemble all their stories into something that makes sense but there are all these great holes and gaps everywhere! And half the time when there is some big revelation its left very vague as to what exactly is being revealed! Is Control a marmot now??? What the hell happened in the village bar? If it is aliens, did they make the light splinter to do what its doing or is it a complete side effect of some other purpose?

Its a good book and I enjoyed it. But I still have no idea what's going on.
