The Sandman Vol. 4: Season of Mists by Neil Gaiman

4.0

After a meeting with his siblings, Death feels badly about condemning a former lover to Hell where she has been tortured for 10,000 years. After making arrangements to speak to Lucifer in order to get Nada released, Dream arrives in Hell only to be handed the keys by Lucifer himself. As the reader I felt a bit wrong-footed and suspicious, and one can only imagine that Morpheus feels the same.

This part is fun, because once Dream is handed the keys, he finds out just how many other beings are interested in his new real estate. We meet the Asgardians, some Fey, various other gods and myths and forces, all scheming and bargaining for their piece of the kingdom of Hell.

The ending is a bit anti-climactic, but the journey is entertaining.
