**Edit to Include Audiobook Review**

First off, this is my second time making it through Make Room for Love by Darcy Liao. This time around, I listened to the audiobook. Because Insta only allows so many characters, I am leaving off my original review and only giving my opinion for the audiobook. You can find my full review for Make Room for Love on my Insta profile or you can check it out on GoodReads. My profile is also SullenSapphic.

As soon as I found out that this book was coming out on audiobook, I got extremely excited because I absorbed it when I read it. Having the ability to listen to this masterpiece gave me the ability to have the drama play out in audio form. Nicky Endres voiced Isabelle and Natalie Naudus voiced Mira. Both brought these characters to life. Just like the physical copy, I didn’t want to stop. Isabelle and Mira are absolute opposites but they couldn’t be more perfect for each other and both voice actors couldn’t have portrayed these characters any better.

Make Room for Love by Darcy Liao

Released: 11-18-2024

Mira, a trans woman of Indian descent, is out at the club trying to enjoy herself. When she leaves, she finds herself trapped by her ex-boyfriend and his friends. Along comes a butch lesbian in shining carabiner, Isabel (of Chinese descent). Isabel has no idea who Mira is but she treats her like her best friend and that she has been looking for her so she could get Mira out of a bad situation.

It so happens that Mira is looking for a place after her recent breakup with her ex-boyfriend and Isabel has a spare room for rent. However, it is only for a couple months because Isabel will be moving after the end of the year. Mira moves in and Isabel wonders if she has made a mistake because the spare room used to belong to her ex-girlfriend.

Due to family trauma and other circumstances, Isabel has become a closed off person but after time, she starts opening up to Mira. She starts noticing her attraction to Mira and starts having thoughts of them being together. She is pretty sure Mira is straight but she tells Mira she has feelings for her just so she doesn’t keep anything from her and Mira nicely rejects her letting her know that she’s straight.

Mira herself over time started noticing she was having reactions to Isabel, before Isabel even confessed her feelings. Mira has always thought of herself as a straight woman but now she is questioning her sexuality. Does Mira come around and find the person she deserves? Because Isabel wants to do nothing more than treat Mira like a queen.

I absolutely could resonate with Isabel in this book. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only queer woman that has fallen for a straight friend. Darcy Liao demonstrates those heartbreaking feelings in Isabel with having a straight friend she is falling for, that friend giving some reciprocation with glances, touches, etc. and then being told they’re straight. Absolutely loved this book. Also, anyone that has read it or hasn’t, chapter 21 is 👌 and chapter 27 😳
