3.5

3.5 I think. I’m kinda on the fence about this one. I’m reading these basically in the order that I can get them on Libby. So I read Paladin’s Grace first and then learned that there was this whole world that Kingfisher was building. I absolutely loved Paladin’s Grace.

I think I just have a hard time with traveling books — this one was back n forth and back n forth which got old for me, and an awful lot of time was spent on ridiculous things, I.e., the jar of piss saga 🙄 it was funny for a minute, but then went on for way too long. This was true with other scenes too. The book could have been reduced probably by 2-4 hours.

Also, Halla was endearing for the first little bit, but then she got annoying. I can appreciate playing the ditz and all of that, but the overall treatment of Halla as this dumb adhd blonde was really overdone. However,  premise of a genie in a bottle, but instead Scotsman in a sword was really fun. And the Vagrant Hills was probably my favorite part by far. The book picked up a lot in the second half. Their name is escaping me atm, but the lawyer was wonderfully done. I loved their character and the little gnome dude with the Ox. I would read a story about those two in a heartbeat.

I listened to this on audio and the narrator was stellar, I think the audio is what saved it for me. I probably would have dnf
If I had been reading this.
