Paths of Malice by Sylvia Mercedes

5.0

Book Three in the Venatrix Chronicles delves further into who Ayleth and Terryn are as well as much more about the history of her world and the current players. There isn't as much direct world-building in this one (world building takes place through history), but that's because the other books were full of it and this one didn't feel lacking in the slightest in that regard. The focus here was on the characters. We learn so much more about the players this round and we come so so close to learning about Ayleth's past. There is a huge reveal in this book (though it actually brings more questions to mind) and I can't wait to keep reading this series. Ms. Mercedes writing flows so smoothly off the page and her story is fast paced and enjoyable. Just like the previous three books (I'm including the prequel here) this book was extremely hard to put down.
