Death of a Naturalist
by Seamus Heaney
A collection I'll be returning to often. This was my introduction to Heaney after spontaneously looking up the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature for the year I was born. His work both captures personally-familiar rural happenstance (The Early Purges), foreign Irish experience (For the Commander of the Eliza), and other universal themes (Scaffolding). I look forward to studying more of his work.
