Lake Like a Mirror by Ho Sok Fong

4.0

This book was so inconsistent. I tend to give a lot of leeway with short story collections because it’s rare that I end up liking every piece. This felt more like an anthology with how inconsistent it was. Some pieces were lyrical and haunting and others left me completely confused and lost with no idea of the purpose of the story. There were even a few stories that I had no idea what was going on from start to end. Maybe it was a poor translation, but I doubt it, as the translator seems to have several decently rated titles.
