mannifran 's review for:
I'm Not Dying with You Tonight
by Gilly Segal, Kimberly Jones
This book gives a look into the nature of rioting and how it can be both scary and dangerous especially when it turns into something more.
The progression of this book started with a racist comment that turned in something violent and frightening for the two characters this book is centered around. With the dual perspective of a black girl and a white girl, we get to see how they both cope with the realities of racism and how it effects everyone. Except every decision these characters made, made no sense. The book missed the mark because it tried to be a survival novel even when the girls were out of the danger zone.
It may not be the best example but it does talk about racism, rioting and looting that is happening today.
