Restoration of Faith is a short story before the Dresden Files. Jim Butcher included an intro that states that this was one of his first short stories and not well written. I read it before the Dresden Files, so I don't know what to compare it to, but it was a fun little intro into the world and got me excited to start reading the Dresden Files finally.
