Update: I do understand that this book is being labeled as transphobic, fatphobic, and all the phobics you can think of based on some stupid shit. Loving Harry Potter doesn't mean you're anti-trans. People doing terrible things in a book, like forcing a child to be trans when they are not, does not mean the author is supporting this behavior. The author is also not against atheists. He is writing from the point of view of a religious character. People need to start separating an author from the writing. It's getting ridiculous.
Original Review: I didn't expect to like this book so much, especially when the twists started happening. I still don't understand how the first chapter factors into the rest of the book; it was very disconnected, so if you get stuck in the beginning, keep reading. The ending was crazy. I absolutely loved the artwork. It was haunting, and some of the images were gorgeous and horrifying. I would recommend it with a bucket of popcorn.
