I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Like other reviewers, I drew a lot of parallels between Yinka and Bridget Jones--self-deprecating, an inability to focus on others (though Yinka has more empathy than Bridget), but loving and warm. And, of course, like Bridget, Yinka has her own family pressures to deal with from her Nigerian relatives and community trying to find her a "huzband". Overall, I found Yinka easy to relate to, and I loved the cast of side characters Lizzie Damilola Blackburn introduces to reinforce Yinka's flaws and bolster her.

Read this if you loved the show Chewing Gum or devoured all of the Bridget Jones books (especially the first two).
