My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
5.0

First and foremost, My Life Next Door is not a romance. It's a love story, plain and simple, about the love between family, friends, and significant others--although the love story in the book is anything but simple. It's deep, poignant, and complicated, but ultimately beautiful; I found myself laughing, smiling, and almost crying. Fitzpatrick has an astounding ability to craft three-dimensional characters, even when she's got a cast of about seventeen, all of whom have their own individual personalities, from adorably hilarious Patsy and George, determined Samantha, sweet Jase, and judgmental Grace Reed. This is a complex, beautiful crafted contemporary YA novel, one that should be read as soon as possible.
