Well, I liked this better than the last one in this series. But I'm not really sure that these books are for me. They fell kind of generic... too dependent on the 'standard" MM Romance template. It is so obvious that these books didn't start with a inspired premise... It seems the commission came before the idea itself. I know that many Mm Romance books are not created from a "divine" inspiration, but from what sells. But they might still try and break the mold and create something original.
It's not because these books are poorly written or poor quality, but I'm probably just a little tired of reading books created because they are commissioned by a publisher. I don't really know how to explain what my problem is exactly. It's probably just a discussion about whether the chicken or the egg came first. Here it was obviously the roasted chicken that came first.
There are definitely things I like about the premise for the series and the characters. But none of the characters really hit me. I can't feel any of them. The "everlasting', almost insta-love between the MCs - even though there's some hurt (with good reason), and the self-sacrificing that just goes on and on and on. The typical crisis that ALMOST cause trouble between them that always come about 75% into the book. But of course they will conquer all their ordeals in the next 10-15% of the book, so that we can get on to The Great Epilogue with the obvious marriage and happy-ever-after. It was just too much. At least for me right now.
