Let me be VERY clear about this book. The culture and the main character’s aunts and mother are the ONLY things that saved this book. I forced myself through a book I would’ve IMMEDIATELY DNF’d but I already  committed to reading this in my book club.

1. Meddy -the main character- is THE WORST ! I mean, she’s a CHILD but like another reviewer said, that wouldn’t give a child enough credit because they would use more brain power to make better choices!

2. Meddy
DID NOT KILL AU GUAN!!! She was in the car with him and he was being a gross pervert, she pushed him to stop inappropriately touching her, ONLY stopped when he swerved and crashed. How does this warrant HER responsible??? It doesn’t!
so the running narrative of this thinking is so dumb!

3. The author’s choice to add
bi/queer love between the bride and best friend
FOR THE 2nd TO LAST CHAPTER?!?!  Completely unnecessary! And it was a trash reason for the maid of honor to
STEAL FROM THE BRIDE IF SHE WAS SO IN LOVE! And then the bride just forgave her and they got married?!?!
come on! So unrealistic!!!

4. And what even happened to
Au Guan’s body????
the ending was awful and I found myself literally screaming at the audio because it was infuriating to listen to.

I don’t think I will ever want to read another book by Jesse Q. Sutanto, and I wish I could get the hours back that I listened.
