Still Life by Sarah Winman
4.0
As with a lot of audiobooks this one took me a while to get into otherwise it might have been a 5. Lots of characters and a bit confusing placing them in time periods initially. But it is read in wonderful voices by the author Sarah Winman herself. The voices age with the characters and it was a delight once I understood more. Some bits of the history Im not sure how embellished -I had never head of the Florence floods but I have been fascinated looking up since. She uses some writer's licence in places - I'm not sure parrots ever talk that much!! The Kid / Alice is such a wonderful character and I still think about Ulysses / Temps running along that train platform. Also loved the song writing / globe making. I do of course wish I was in Tuscany again.
