I feel like was the beginning of the end in the Halo book series; as the writing starts to get weak. As Ghosts of Onyx fails deliver what the previous books had delivered; an engaging story and great characters. This book has a weak beginning of which the story really starts around chapter 6. It has an ok middle of the book, which is the best part of the book and starts to feel like a Halo book. There is also the letdown cliff hanger ending, which ends up serving no purpose in the long run to the Halo universe, and makes the book weaker for it. This also goes for the bootleg Spartans; the Spartan IIIs.
