Emilia Hart is my Magical Realism/Historical Fiction QUEEN! I was completely obsessed with Weyward, her debut novel, and couldn't wait to read this one!

I was lucky to receive an ARC and listened to it through Libro.fm. The time Emilia takes to craft each character and their relation to the story is extraordinary. Research is crucial in order to write a well rounded historical fiction novel and Emilia does so with such care and passion for the story itself. I appreciate that many of the places and events were loosely based on reality rather than directly being tied to her findings. I LOVE the way she weaves in feminine strength as a rooted foundation in both of her novels.

I will most definitely be checking out the book, The Fatal Shore by Robert Hughes as she described it as "the bible" of conviction transportation, which is a local point of the novel.

I can honestly say that I will read anything Emilia Hart writes in the future. I can't wait to stock this one for my customers!
