A Tapping At My Door by David Jackson

Great start to a series! Despite some slow parts, I couldn't stop reading. Mostly because I wanted to know what's going on with the main character who's introduced like a typical Good Guy With a Damaged Past but turns out to be really, really messed up. I like it when protagonists aren't afraid to play dirty, it keeps things interesting. I also liked how he's not a typical hero in that his vulnerability is all on-page. I thought the reveal behind the crimes to be shocking and one of those moments when a reference to a real-life horror is not taken lightly. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series!
