The King's Men by Nora Sakavic

5.0

A MILLION STARS.
MY LIFE HAS NO MEANING ANYMORE.

This is not a review, but a frantic mess of feels and "oh my gods".
SPOILERS, BEWARE!

Time was nothing. Seconds were days, were years, were the breaths that caught between their mouths and the bite of Neil's fingernails against his palms, the scrape of teeth against his lower lip and the warm slide of a tongue against his.

Also, excuse me while I try to gather the pieces of my heart off the floor.
*deep breath*

THIS SERIES.
IS.
A MASTERPIECE.

And I'm not taking it back.
Yes, it has a couple of flaws.
No, I don't care about them because I'M UTTERLY OBSESSED BY THIS SERIES.

These characters.
They stole my heart and left me grasping for sanity.
I love them so so much.
I can't pick a favourite. They're all so beautifully complex, messed up and absolutely wonderful.
In this last (*insert heart shattering noise*) book, the Foxes finally become the team Neil always hoped they'd be. Loyal, protective and even though they all have their differences, they care and love each other nonetheless.
My heart broke at their fierce protectiveness of Neil, when they proved they would do anything for him and every other Fox.
Throughout the series I had always mentally cheered them on, but seeing how they finally managed to overcome their tensions and antagonism made me so emotional.
Finally after all their sacrifices and losses, they managed to win and prove themselves.
I'm so proud, they're my darling-cinnamon-roll-babies.

"This is your night. This is your game.
This is your moment. Seize it with everything you've got. Pull out all the stops and lay it all on the line. Fight because you don't know how to die quietly. Win because you don't know how to lose. This king's ruled long enough—it's time to tear his castle down.

Neil Josten, though.
I loved him from the start. I grieved and suffered and laughed and joyed with him.
He's so precious, you just want to hug him and cheer him all the way through.
And gosh, I'm so proud of him.
And Andrew, I cannot express how how much I love Andrew. He's borderline crazy, completely unpredictable, but so protective of the ones he loves.
The scene when he sees Neil after his encounter with his father, with all his wounds and burns, made my heart shatter.
And Neil and Andrew were in this book the absolute death of me.
Their scenes, their dialogues, the "I hate you but I'll kiss you anyway" moments.
I SHIP THEM WITH MY WHOLE FRIGGIN' HEART.
And they're officially my n°1 OTP.

This series has everything I have always looked for in books.
And The King's Men has even more.
Action, dark and terrifying moments, danger, pain and heartbrake.
But also friendships and teamwork and victory, love and fluff and kisses , even if the're all slightly messed up.

What will I do now that I finished this masterpiece, I truly don't know.
I guess pine over a paper copy and a fourth book *worships Nora Sakavic*
In the meantime, I will have to re-read them, soon.
VERY SOON.
