The New Testament by Jericho Brown

3.0

This is my first Jericho Brown book. I heard a lot of people on booktube talking about him so I decided to order it. I have mixed emotions as to whether or not I like this collection or not. I am a poetry lover but I'm in limbo when it comes to this collection. In the New Testament Jericho gives his own interpretation of some of the scriptures in the bible which is taken from Psalms, Corinthians, Romans, and Hebrews. If you have not read these books in the bible then you will probably need to read them first and then read the poems. Jericho uses what is called Allegory which is a form of fable, parable, and apologue that may have meanings on two or more levels that the reader can understand only through an interpretive process. He talks about a series of topics such as disease, violence, trauma, and love. H not only talks about relationships between a man and a woman but relationships between men and men. I am quite sure that I would need to dig a little deeper for the true meaning and understanding of some of these poems. These are poems that you will have to read and read again.
