An enjoyable read. I liked the themes in the story that resonate with women's experience in marriage and relationships. I don't think they are too out-dated to be enjoyed still.
Sackville-West's writing did catch me off-guard a few times, (it's written in third person and in past-tense), when there was an ambiguous reference to a character. And especially when there was a major turning point with the character that occurred within a paragraph. I stopped and thought "wait, she means this happened, or speculated it to happen or to which character?"
Is it clumsy writing or just me? I'm still not sure. Sometimes an audio version will clear things up, but I didn't have one available to me.
I made lots of highlights for passages I want to re-read.
