I didn't like it at first. It took me a while to enjoy it, at the beginning I was worried I'd wasted my BOTM pick on it. I think maybe it was just a little too YA. But then I got into it and began to care a lot about the characters.
I will say the twist reveal was extremely obvious. Like, see it from a mile away, well before you're supposed to obvious.
Also. ALSO. How are you going to name two best friends Gideon and Harrow??? That threw me off so much. Do authors not research their character names or anything, to make sure they haven't been used together before? Is The Locked Tomb really that obscure?
Lastly, I do think there should be a warning about the self harm built into the magic system. A lot of talk about cutting oneself, even specifying wrists.
