After reading serious and artsy books for the last month, I picked up the first two books in the Supernatural Singles series for some fun. And that’s exactly what this book is. It’s set in a world where supernaturals and naturals, called Norms, co-exist. We are dropped into the world with a narrative centered around the characters. So we learn about the creatures, their abilities, and the rules of the world as time goes on. I enjoyed it!
While the rivals-to-lovers trope is predictable, it’s still enjoyable. The book itself is an easy read with Violet being a feisty main character who takes her “dud” witch status in stride and Lincoln being the hunky male lead wolf shifter who will make Team Jacob fans feel seen. While the main conflict gets resolved in a hand wave-y way, as I said I was here for a good time.
If I had one critique, the constant pop culture references were a bit tiresome. And the self-insert nature of the three sisters definitely made it feel a bit like a fanfic, but a well-written fanfic
