Poirot Investigates
by Agatha Christie
Charming and entertaining collection of short stories. Because they are so short, they lack the engagement of the novels -- by the time the evidence is given, the case is solved within a few pages. It feels much more like the reader is along for the ride instead of being encouraged to try and solve the mysteries. Although, the short stories feature a reduced cast of characters that makes it much more likely to guess the right suspect.
Unfortunately, at least one or two of the stories have racist and/or antiquated terminology. Also, some of the mysteries were so intricate that I didn't understand what had happened even after they were explained.
