Breath of Fire
by Amanda Bouchet
As with book one in this series, this is a fun book.
I expect middle books to be somewhat plodding and not add a whole lot to the series but Ms. Bouchet has broken this mold. This book isn't just a bridge, it is actually a critical part in the series due to character development and growth.
The other thing about this not-a-bridge book? It is absolutely heartbreaking on some levels. I don't want to spoil with why but treachery is always ugly.
