TW: Domestic violence, sexual abuse, rape.
Sometimes I find books told from different perspectives across different time periods a little tedious, so was a little apprehensive ahead of this one as there were three characters to follow. However, Hart weaves the stories together really satisfactorily and I found it easy to hold all the threads together. (However, I’m quite a fast reader and read it in little over a day so if you were reading this over the course of a longer time, it might not be as easy!) I really enjoyed reading this book; it is well-told with characters you absolutely root for and fall in love with. The natural-style magic was really interesting, particularly the connections with insects. The story itself is tense and mysterious in a way where you’re comfortable; you sort of know how it’s going to end and that’s okay. I’d recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel something. God, I love women.
