dark emotional mysterious medium-paced

A fairly interesting collection in comparison to King's other short fiction collections. This casts a wide net with some dark horror stories mixed with human drama stories and a fair amount that are a mix of both.

Some work a lot better than others. LT's Theory of Pets and All That You Love Will Be Carried Away are the standouts for me. But I also like Autopsy Room Four and That Feeling You Can Only Say What it is in French a whole lot too.

Stories like Lunch at the Gotham CafĂ© and The Road Virus Heads North have strong ideas driving not so strong all around stories. And then there are the outliers like In the Deathroom and The Death of Jack Hamilton. Both of which are pretty atypical stories for King and my opinion of them will likely change multiple times depending on the mood I'm in. But I appreciate the peculiarity of King's work here.

It's not my favorite King short fiction collection, but it includes some really strong stuff among some slightly less strong stories.
