Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair
by Pablo Neruda, W.S. Merwin, Cristina García
emotional
fast-paced
I didn't really feel any great emotional connection to the text. I got the feeling while I was reading it that I might have gotten more out of it by reading it in the original Spanish, but my Spanish is rudimentary at best. Certainly more erotic than I had thought it was going to be, but that's not a judgement on the poetry itself. I only found maybe two poems are so particularly noteworthy at least in terms of actually remembering them - and I am getting around to this review quite a while after reading so take some of this with a grain of salt. But I'm not much interested in reading more of his work, to be honest.
