The Magician's Land by Lev Grossman

4.0

Well-written and engrossing. I was really glad that this was the book where Quentin finally grew the fuck up and stopped being horrible to himself and everyone around him. It really helped me enjoy the magic and brutality of Fillory in its last installment.

SpoilerI'm still pretty disappointed about Alice. I was excited that they brought her back and that she immediately absolutely reamed Quentin for being such a selfish, entitled prick. It was glorious. But then the book treated it like that outburst of rage and righteous indignation was indicative of the monster still having control of her mind. Once she was "fixed" and "healed," she went right back to him. That was really disappointing.
