There are always books that you realize you like more or less with time, as you sit with them. I experienced that while I was in the midst of this one. Between putting it down and picking it back up again, I almost wouldn’t want to read it. Then I would, and I’d be completely caught in its undertow and not want to come up for air. I don’t want my appreciation for this book to be forgotten with time and distance. I don’t know why this would happen, but if you ever catch me trying to lower the rating, don’t trust it! Don’t trust me!
Graphic: Infidelity, Grief, Mass/school shootings, Misogyny, Gun violence, Toxic relationship, Violence, Body horror, Car accident, Death, Death of parent, Injury/Injury detail, and Murder
Moderate: Alcohol, Medical content, Cancer, Cursing, Drug use, and Racial slurs
Minor: Abortion, Pregnancy, and Vomit
There's a fair bit that takes place in hospitals, but no procedures are explicitly described. Under that umbrella there is also amputation and phantom pain .
