Black Water Sister by Zen Cho

This book had an interesting premise, but it just didn't come together at the end for me. The feud between Ah Ma and Ng Chee Hin simmered slowly throughout the book without really coming to a boil - their confrontation seemed anticlimactic and he isn't seen again. I kept feeling like there would be some twist or nuance to the controversy about the temple, but the ones that are revealed just didn't feel satisfying. My favorite part was Kor Kor and her views on Malaysian religion and Christianity. The concept that one religion's deities won't harm you if you worship different ones was very interesting and amusing to me.
