Fillets of Plaice by Gerald Durrell

Fillets of Plaice is a pleasant collection of various stories about Durrell's adventures, both from his adult life and his childhood, but it's no match for his two classics set on Corfu, "My Family and Other Animals," and "Birds, Beasts and Relatives." Still, he's a good writer, and some of the stories are laugh-out-loud funny: FoP was a nice change from the intensity of "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao"!
