Strange Sally Diamond
by Liz Nugent
Strange Sally Diamond is an intriguing and unforgettable read that had me hooked from the very first page. Liz Nugent masterfully weaves a story that is both uncomfortable and twisted, but impossible to look away from. It’s one of those books where you find yourself saying, “just one more chapter,” only to realize you've devoured half the book in one sitting.
Sally is such a compelling character: her bluntness, her trauma, and her unique view of the world make her utterly fascinating. While the subject matter is undeniably dark, Nugent handles it with just enough restraint to keep it disturbing without becoming gratuitous.
A lot of readers seem divided over the ending, but I actually liked it. It may not be neat or traditionally satisfying, but it felt real. Life doesn't always wrap itself up in perfect resolutions, and this book reflects that in a way that stuck with me long after finishing.
