Cujo: A Novel
by Stephen King
One of King's most praised novels but for me it didn't live up to expectations. Less horror and more just bleak, on it's own it's a story where nothing really goes right for anyone involved, but of course King can't help himself from including one supernatural thread, one which is never explained and never goes anywhere, leaving the reader with questions, and not in a good way. That aside this feels like one of King's more depressing novels, maybe because the events could really happen, or maybe because in the absence of the supernatural the events begin to feel so contrived that you simply have to assume God himself hates the Trentons, the Cambers, and just about everyone else in the story.
