christineslibrarycard 's review for:
Colton Gentry's Third Act
by Jeff Zentner
This started off strong and felt like it had serious 5 star potential. So much so that I requested all of his other books from the library.
I really appreciated Colton’s ability to communicate his feelings and seeing his friendship turned brotherhood with Duane. His teenage love story had my heart in my throat.
However, as the book went on it really lost its sparkle for me. The dialogue was so cheesy at times and I couldn’t help but imagine Tow Mater from Cars speaking the lines. As you might imagine m, that was a major buzz kill.
Another buzz kill for me personally? The “oh you’re so perfect and I am a screw up and don’t deserve you so I’ll self-sabotage” theme that showed up time and time. Yuck.
