Circus Mirandus by Cassie Beasley

4.0

Fantastic book! I almost didn't read it because I enjoy circuses, but really don't often find them to be an enjoyable setting for books or films. Also I had heard the book compared to Roald Dahl who I associate with over the top mean spirited whimsy, which I do not enjoy. So glad I read this book. It was charming and fun and exciting. Nicah Tuttle lives with his grandfather Ephraim who is dying. He has heard stories of the magical secret Circus Mirandus all his life. His grandfather visited the circus when he was a child. While he was there a performer called the Bender of Light created wonderful illusions for the audience, and then promised Ephraim the he would perform a miracle for him. Ephraim is dying now and wants to use his miracle. Micah and his friend Jenny Mendoza have to help him to collect it.
